The significance of non-motorised transport for developing countries; Strategies for policy development (2000)
Commissioned by the World Bank, I-CE did a study on the effectiveness of non-motorised transport in relation to economic growth, reduction of poverty and quality of life in urban areas.

The study presents a framework for understanding non motorized transport, reports on insitutional and policy arrangements, introduces planning for cycling and walking, gives an overview of technical and infrastructural issues, presents options and comes with objectives and strategies for an increased role of non motorized transport. The Dutch experience is a reference for options, strategies and planning. The
applicability of arrangements developed in the Netherlands is considered. The study can be downloaded from http://siteresources.worldbank.org
