I-CE has initiated and is backed by a network of cycling experts who participate in studies on specific themes. These experts have a variety of backgrounds, ranging from traffic engineering to social marketing and governance to urban planning, gender issues, safety, cost aspects and behavioural aspects.


 

Gender Budget Analysis (2008-2009)
Mobycon, a Dutch agency, and I-CE are developing a Gender Budget Analysis tool. The goal of the Gender Budget Analysis is analysing the relation between cycling planning, budget and gender.

National Cycling Policy Benchmarking Program (NATCYP) (2001)
NATCYP was a benchmark program directed by Velo Mondial, supported by DG TREN of the European Commission, and with five participating countries: Czech Republic, England, Finland, Scotland and The Netherlands. The program was executed as a co-production of Velo Mondial, in association with I-CE the Netherlands and OGM Belgium.

Integrated Planning for Mobility and Safety is Promising (1999-2002)
The mobility needs of pedestrians, cyclists and motorised two wheelers, are not standard integrated in the planning for traffic and transport in Europe. One consequence is that in the framework of safety policies often a curative approach is promoted that may restrict cyclists' and pedestrians' mobility. The European Union commissioned a research to develop measures that reduce the risk of injury to vulnerable road-users as much as possible in a non-restrictive way.

The significance of non-motorised transport for developing countries; Strategies for policy development (2000)
Commissioned by the World Bank, I-CE did a study on the effectiveness of non-motorised transport in relation to economic growth, reduction of poverty and quality of life in urban areas.

Study on cost and benefits of cycling policies (2000)
I-CE took the initiative to do a study on cost and benefits of cycling policies, in a coalition with  the Dutch Habitat foundation (which was founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Housing and the Environment). Other partners were found to contribute with funds or with expertise.
