Training courses
|
The transfer of knowledge and experience on cycling-inclusive policy development and planning is one of the reasons for existence for I-CE. Providing training courses is one of the methods to accommodate this transfer of knowledge. I-CE can provide effective training courses and master classes, or contribute to training courses organised by others. |

Lecture on Road Safety for the course “Traffic Safety in Asian & Latin American Countries: Principles and Approaches” Hasselt (Belgium), 20 October 2009 I-CE had been requested to provide one half-day block in the two-week road safety course for Asian and Latin-American countries organised by IMOB (Transportation Research Institute / Instituut voor Mobiliteit) at the University of Hasselt in Belgium. For I-CE, Jeroen Buis taught on Tuesday-afternoon the 20th of October. His presentation was called: “Planning and Designing for Road Safety, with special attention to Walking and Cycling and to Urban Areas.” |

Non-motorised Transport Course Cape Town (South Africa), 30 August - 2 September 2009 The University of Cape Town, together with its many other partners; National Government, NGO’s and Consultants and including I-CE, organised the NMT training course. This 3-day training course with over 30 participants consisted of engineers, urban planners, provincial and municipal officials currently involved in the NMT planning for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, Integrated Rapid Transit (IRT) teams and Consulting Engineers appointed for the City Wide NMT projects. |

Bangalore Workshop Bangalore (India), 31 January 2009 The Bangalore Metropolitan Land Transport Authority (BMLTA), in association with EMBARQ, I-CE, City Connect and Ride A Cycle Foundation, organized on the 31th of January the “Bangalore Cycling Initiative Workshop.” Bangalore is one of many Indian cities that started to explore the value of cycling policies. |

Train the Trainers training course Delhi (India), April 2008 The German development agency GTZ is one of the partners in SUMA. Its main contribution to the SUMA program is the organisation of a Train the Trainer course on sustainable urban transport. GTZ and I-CE agreed to co-operate for the non motorised transport module of this training course, and I CE provided two trainers for a 6 days training program. |

NMT-training seminar Sydney, 20 - 21 Oktober 2008 GTZ organised, prior to the 9th world congress of the Metropolis network, a 2-day training course for around 50 participants from all over the world. The major of the City of Sydney, Clover Moore, opened the course. Jeroen Buis, I-CE consultant, was the main trainer of the course. The themes of the course were "Cycling inclusive traffic and transport planning" and "Public Bicycle Systems". |

World Bank Training Brasil, 31 July 2006 - 3 August 2006 The World Bank initiated a 4-day training course with the objective to develop the capacity of participants from Brazilian cities to plan and design bicycle paths and on-road facilities that form a network for non-motorized transportation, integrated with public transport systems. The training course from 31 July 2006 - 3 August 2006 in Guarulhos, Brazil, succeeded the Clean Air Initiative’s biannual conference, held from 25-27 July 2006 in Sao Paulo. |
