Partners & alliances

Sustainable urban and transport planning is our core business. Utilising the full potential of cycling as an indispensable part of sustainable urban transport systems is I-CE’s angle in this. In the current world our knowledge and experiences are in demand, and we are curious and eager to link with others parties. Therefore partnerships are key in the work of I-CE. I-CE is cooperating in alliances with other organisations of various backgrounds such as development co-operation, environment, universities, etc.

EcoMobility Certification Scheme, June 2010-May 2013

I-CE is one of the partners of the EcoMobility SHIFT project (June 2010 – May 2013).This project aims at developing a method to assess, improve and promote the environmental sustainability of local governments’ transport and land-use planning policies. Municipalities will be able to obtain an ‘EcoMobility Label’ that values their efforts to improve the ‘friendliness’ of their cities, neighborhoods and facilities for pedestrians, cyclists, wheelers and public transport users.

New international Partnership on Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT)

In September 2009, the Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) has been launched. Over 50 organisations have joined the Partnership, including UN organisations, multilateral development banks, technical cooperation agencies, NGOs, research organisations and other organisations.

The Cycling Academic Network has been established as a (yet expanding) world wide network of academic researchers (represented by their university employers) to conduct research and capacity building on NMT systems, particularly cycling, in integration with sustainable urban transport development. This research takes place primarily for and in countries that are technologically and/or economically less developed.

Institute for Urban Transport UIT Delhi
During the Urban Mobility conference in Delhi December 2008, organised by the Ministry of Urban Development of India, the Institute for Urban Transport signed a memorandum of understanding with I-CE for the delivery of expertise.

Global Alliance for Eco Mobility
I-CE is member of the Global Alliance for Eco Mobility, a network initiated by ICLEI (Local Governments for Sustainability) and Shimano. The alliance is a cross-sectoral partnership with UN bodies, private companies, business associatons, expertise centres and user organisations. The alliance aims to promote the integrated promotion of walking, cycling, wheeling and public transport, to improve health and the urban environment and to mitigate global climate change.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ)
I-CE has an agreement with the Sustainable Urban Transport Program (SUTP) of GTZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit) to collaborate in building up a knowledge base and develop source documents and training modules.

Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia)
The Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia), established in 2001 as an initiative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank and the United States Asia Environmental Partnership has been successful in bringing air quality management stakeholders from a range of different backgrounds together.
