Erkenning voor I-CE, juni 2010

Danish Embassy reikt I-CE directeur “Leadership Award” voor fietspromotie 2010 uit

De directeur van I-CE Roelof Wittink heeft tijdens de Velo City Global conferentie 2010 in Kopenhagen de Leadership Award voor fietspromotie 2010 ontvangen. De award is hem toegekend voor zijn toewijding aan internationale samenwerking en zijn kennis over het fietsen voor duurzaam transport en armoedebestrijding. De award is toegekend door de Danish Cycling Embassy, die net als I-CE ten doel heeft kennis over de integratie van fietsen in beleid internationaal over te dragen.

The Potential of Cycling for Accessibility, Juli 2010 

I-CE has compiled an article on the potential of cycling for the accessibility of destinations. It outlines a people-oriented (‘arriving at your destination’) approach as opposed to the common vehicle-oriented (‘moving more is better’) approach. Accessibility is the key issue, serving the individual and the society at large.

Dutch Parliament votes for more development cooperation on cycling. July 2010

The Dutch Parliament, for the first time together after elections, has voted for a continuation and even stronger development cooperation policy on cycling. Members of the parliament were concerned about the cuts in development aid that threatens subsidy for I-CE in the coming years from the Minister for Development Cooperation.

De Global Cycling Coalition, juni 2010

De Global Cycling Coalition is een bondgenootschap dat zich richt op de betekenis van het fietsen in het wereldwijd verduurzamen van de verkeer- en vervoerssector. De kern bestaat uit zuidelijke fietsorganisaties die zullen samenwerken met kennisinstellingen en netwerken van steden. Ook door donorinstanties, de fietsindustrie en adviesbureaus kunnen deel uitmaken van de Coalition.

Cycling in support of the greening of sport events, Juli 2010

A sustainable approach has arrived on top of the agenda for  sport events. An interesting illustration is the bidbook by the Dutch and Belgium soccer unions  for the World Cup Soccer in 2018 or 2022. The HollandBelgium Bid has begun to build a Green Goal Movement that brings together citizens, football fans, NGOs, business, governments and the academic world.  

BPP Annual Report 2009

I-CE delivered the annual report on the Bicycle Partnership Program 2009 to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which provides core funding for the program. In this report you will find the progress on capacities by local governments and CSO's as a result of the BPP and other outputs. Moreover, we report on the impact of the BPP support on the policy development in a number of the cities where the BPP operates.
